5 Fashion Essentials for a Quick Tip to Nantucket with Award-Winning Stylist Tara West
A trip to Nantucket is one of my favorite summer past times. I have been going for years and have come to rely on a few essential items to make my stay that much more stylish. The social scene on Nantucket is nothing short of absolutely fabulous – so I like to pull out pieces that are sure to travel well and complement my social itinerary.
1. SWIMSUIT
First and foremost, you must have a fantastic swimsuit: I love this one from a local designer, Jill Palese. Her sustainably sourced swimsuits are beautifully made and thoughtfully designed. Come check her out this summer at her pop-up shop on ACK.
2. BEACH COVER-UP
A stand-out beach cover-up: I love a lightweight, relaxed, beachy vibe that’s elevated and figure-flattering. A cover-up made out of beautiful fabric can quickly go from a chic look at the pool to a casual lunch or cocktails at the beach. This one is last season from one of my favorite brands, Cult Gaia, but you can shop a newer style (that I have also been eyeing) here.
3. THE SUNDRESS
A memorable dress for one of many fabulous restaurants: I love a beautifully made dress that fits your body like it was made for you. ACK is the perfect place to stretch your fashion legs and pull out a few new pieces that are extra special. Like a great linen dress for eating outside at Cru, this white poplin dress by STAUD for the bar at Lola 41, a gorgeous floral like the Rhythmic Picnic dress by Zimmerman, or keep it casual in a bright frock for grabbing tacos at Millie’s.
4. SUN DEFENSE SKINCARE
The perfect travel size skincare: The Airo Skincare line is plant-based and was created to protect your skin in harsher elements such as the beach, boat, sun, wind, and while on a plane. Traveling can dry out your skin and make you look tired, even if you’re not, and that is why Airo is my go-to for all of my summer adventures. My favorite collection is The Se Beach Bum Kit. The kit contains a toning mist, cooling eye gel, apres sun serum, and hydrating lip treatment for $142, and it is TSA compliant for easy travel.
5. ACCESSORIES
When you’re on Nantucket, keep the accessories to a minimum: A versatile tote like this Valentino straw bag is also a great investment piece as you can easily transition it back into your summer wardrobe when you return from your trip. A glamorous pair of sunglasses and 2-3 pieces of jewelry. I recommend mixing metals and layering pieces to add texture and shine to your overall look.
