Makeup Artist – Nelse Karini

Nelse Karini is one of Boston’s most prominent makeup artists. Winner of Boston’s Best Makeup Artist in 2014 she continues to be nominated for many awards year after year. Her passion to enhance beauty has spanned over 12 years. With work ranging from fashion shows and print campaigns to commercials, and TV appearances to editorial work.

As Nelse played with my makeup, she told me how she always had a passion for cosmetics.  She first came to this country from Albania 16 years ago and immediately began helping her cousin at their salon. 

With broken English she went to Macy’s and landed her first job. She worked for three and a half years at the Dior cosmetic counter. She explained to me what a great learning experience it was. She then went on to do artistry work in NYC during Fashion Week, while also working with local celebrities and Salon’s such as Mario Russo. From there she ventured into weddings. She beams when she talks about working with brides and said how she loves working in that venue. 

The key to her success she believes is her ability to go above and beyond for her clients. This kind of loyalty and word of mouth led her to more and more weddings. Adding destination weddings to her resume she has traveled to foreign countries, as well as Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
