Fiji Ceviche Recipe from Nantucket Mermaids
Nantucket Mermaids Yacht Charters (NMYC) are vested in supporting the local business community, which means they only serve locally prepared food. Because most island restaurants are chef-owned, you’d be hard-pressed to have a negative dining experience on the island. So, of course, NMYC guests can expect to nosh on some of the best the island offers!
Nantucket Mermaids’ affinity for distinctive cuisine developed over years of working with some of the most notable yacht chefs and chefs/restaurateurs. They
continue to partner with many of Nantucket’s treasured hot spots for provisioning, including Cru, the Corner Table with Pip and Anchor, the Straight Wharf Fish Market, Provisions, and Fresh, and the list goes on! We wanted to bring you the at-sea dining experience, so we asked NMYC’s culinary director to share a favorite dish one might enjoy on one of the cruises.
Fiji Ceviche Recipe

One of our favorite recipes—first discovered in Fiji in the South Pacific—is fresh-caught fish ceviche! With an abundance of beautiful fish around the island, we like to keep it simple! Try making this yourself using only the freshest fish.
INGREDIENTS
- Fresh fist of choice
- One small diced red onion
- Freshly torn cilantro
- Jalapenos to taste
- A few squeezes of lime juice (the acid will lightly “cook” the fish)
- Several dashes of coconut milk to smooth out the flavor and add sweetness
- Other add-ins include pineapple, mango, thai basil, or yellow pepper, and we definitely recommend a caviar bump to top it off!
INSTRUCTIONS
It’s super easy: fillet the fish and mix it with all the ingredients in a bowl. Serve to the delight of your guests!
