Saturday, June 13th, was World Gin Day. We are a tad bit late to the celebration. But, in all honesty, warm weather days can always be turned into World Gin Day! There’s something about the crispness of gin that cools one down and mellows out the crowd.
The Divine Cocktailer has crafted a wonderful drink for you to cheers in celebration of gin. She used the stunningly purple shaded Empress 1908 Gin in her Butterfly Effect Cocktail. If you’re looking to purchase a bottle, she suggests Drizzly, Saucey, Instacart, or Minibar. These delivery services have a minimal charge and usually get your product delivered in under an hour.
WORLD GIN DAY! I thought I would celebrate by crafting a special gin cocktail that will ignite your senses. Let’s celebrate all things GIN, a much-loved spirit all around the world. My seasonal cocktail helps to kick off the warmer weather and enjoy any day of the week using just three simple ingredients: Empress 1908 Gin, Lillet Blanc, and Key Lime Juice. Are you looking to add a garnish? I highly suggest grapefruit. So, let’s get Be – GIN!
The Butterfly Effect with Empress 1908 Gin
A bit about Empress ingredients in this divine cocktail…
Empress 1908 Gin is a collaboration between Victoria Distillers and the legendary Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia. To make Empress 1908 Gin, the master distillery Peter Hunt, macerates the juniper, rose, coriander, grapefruit, ginger, and cinnamon overnight in a mix of water and corn-based spirit. The beautiful all-natural indigo color comes from butterfly pea blossoms post distillation as well as a signature blend of black tea served and the Empress Hotel.
Ingredients
- 2 oz. EMPRESS 1908 GIN
- 1/2 oz. LILLET BLANC
- 1/2 Key Lime Juice
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
- Strain into your favorite cocktail glass over fresh ice.
- For a garnish, I used smoked grapefruit, but fresh grapefruit peel or a slice will work as well.
Cheers!
