Here at The Haute Life, we’ve assembled a glam squad just for you! From make-up to fashion, we’ve got you covered on the latest holiday beauty and style trends.
But wait! Don’t think we forgot about one of the most important peeps of the glam squad – the hair stylist! We have an “in” with award-winning stylist Ashley at Salon Capri‘s Newbury Street location. It can be hard to get an appointment with this balayage expert. So, we tapped into her hair-genius brain for DIY holiday hairstyles.
2018 Holiday Hairstyles
Ashely tells us textured waves are still the basis for most hairstyles. What’s great about the textured wave is you can leave your house in the morning looking fantastic and then when the sun goes down, use that texture to pin up your hair up!
The Base – Textured Waves
Instructions
- Either on wet or dry hair apply Shu Uemura Ample Angora Volumizing Mousse to the roots to give height.
- For heat protection use Kerastase RÉSISTANCE Sérum Thérapiste Hair Serum.
- Use a curling wand to create big and loose waves (avoid tight curls.)
- While you create the curls, spray with Kerastase Laque Extrême Hair Spray for hold.
- Once all loose pieces have been curled, loosely brush out the curls.
- Sprinkle with L’Oréal TECNI.ART volume Super Dust to create the texture and volume
- Spray again to seal the deal!
- Carry this magic texturizing powder in your purse to dab on roots to refresh volume.
The Face Framer
Get that hair out of your face! Okay, Ma, we hear you! Mothers and grandmothers across the globe are clapping loudly for the half updo. Besides, you’ve worked so hard on that holiday make-up – let’s see that pretty face!
Instructions
- Prepare hair using the same wave technique as described in the previous instructions.
- Grab the hair from the front of the hairline back two inches, and give a healthy tease.
- Section the area of hair above the forehead and the majority part of the crown with hairpins.
- Fold hair over each side to hide pin.
- Spray to hold
Romantic Braid
Braids aren’t just for little girls and Heidi! Braids add a romantic feel and can be incorporated into so many different hairstyles. For this post, Ashley created a side braid that is also used in a low chignon.
Instructions
- Start a french braid about three quarters across your forehead, braiding across your forehead and work down one side only.
- Secure the end with a small elastic.
- Spray to hold.
Braided Chignon
If you’re looking for a more sophisticated and sexy look, Ashley tells us a chignon, is it! Think naughty librarian and just go with it. 😉
Instructions
- Use the braid as an anchor and twist the remaining locks into a log chignon.
- Secure in place with bobby pins.
- Use texturizing spray to hold.
A huge thanks to Ashley for her time and hair magic insight! Happy Holidays!
